The Alphabet Center at EKU

The Alphabet Center is an LGBTQ+ affirming student organization and safe space, which seeks equality, equity, and social justice for the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalized groups through visibility awareness, education, social activities, community building, and positive self-development.

Located in Roark 10, the Alphabet Center holds weekly meetings on Thursday evenings at 8:00 p.m.

Fall 2019 Event Calendar for the EKU Alphabet Center

All events take place in Roark 10 unless otherwise noted. 




Returners Night: All returning members come and catch ups and meet their new officers


Beginners Night: Welcome all new recruits and explain the rules, go over conduct, and play ice breakers.


Game Night: A simple night to play board games so everyone can get to know each other.


Diva Night: Dress up as your favorite diva and learn choreographed dances in the Campus Rec’s Group Studio!


Safe Sex is Sexy: The Campus Rec will be working with us to provide an informative but fun safe sex talk.


Queeraoke: On a volunteer basis, people can sing their favorite songs, read stories, poetry, or anything of the like.


No Meeting: Latino Chautauqua


Queer Jeopardy: A Jeopardy-style game night with queer themes!


Colonel Pride Banner: We will be tabling at Homecoming in front of Case Plaza from 11AM-5:00PM and we will have a banner that says “Proud to be a Colonel” and people may come up and dip their hand in paint and place a handprint on the banner.


Coming Out Stories: On a volunteer basis, we will share our coming out stories. A member of the Counseling Center will be present. 


National Coming Out Day: Table with Student Life and offer information about the center. We will also support the Campus Rec’s second Diva Night which takes place at 12PM.


Game Night: A night of board games so everyone can get to know each other. 


Craft Night: A night where you can make anything you want, especially so close to Halloween if you would like to work on your costume! 


Halloween Party: Candy, costumes, and queers. 


Day of the Dead Masquerade: Support and possibly table at the Masquerade held by Pi Lambda Chi Latina Sorority Inc.


Movie Night: A queer movie or documentary. Title TBA


Queeries Night: A Women and Gender Studies professor will join us in answering questions and defining terms. 


Friendsgiving: A potluck for friends and those in our community. 


No Meeting: Thanksgiving Break


Winter Party: Secret Santa and/or a night of joy before the break.
